 Schedule 2011 – 2012

 Please note:  All meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Whiton Room of the Hingham Public Library on the first Monday of the month, unless otherwise noted.

 

September 13, This is the Second Monday- Introductory Meeting 

(bring a plant to swap and an account of your biggest problem and/or success this past gardening season).  Our own Doug Litchfield, proprietor of  Hillbilly Acres will update us on the horticultural trade.

 October 3- Howard Scott will present “Beekeeping:  A Year in the Life of a Beehive.”

 November 7-Maureen Bovet will present “New York Garden Spaces.”

Maureen Bovet is a garden designer with ahistory degree from Wellesley College. Shehas studied with the Landscape Institute andthe University of Massachusetts’ Green Schooland has worked for Historic New England in their historic plant propagation program.

                                                                         November 21- at the Wompatuck State Park Clubhouse, Workshop making small candle wreaths with Jeanette Bukuras.  Fee for materials to be determined.

December 5- Holiday Party (location T. B. A.)

January- No Meeting

February 6- Jeanette Bukuras, now an MFA Associate in Flowers, will tell us about her program there and will demonstrate an arrangement using principles of design.

March 5- Cheryl Monroe will present “Clematis: Queen of the Climbers.”

Cheryl Monroe Certified Master Gardener

Cheryl lives and gardens in Jefferson, where she is past president and acting Community Service Chairperson of the Holden Garden Club.  She is currently part of the MMGA Speakers' Bureau, and a dedicated volunteer at Tower Hill Botanic Garden in Boylston.  Her gardens are ornamental and whimsical, and she grows close to 100 climbing plants including multiple species of clematis.

 

April 2-

“Raising the Bar”—a fun quiz night with Marty Amdur and  Dawn Lopes returns.Given a TEN by your Web Master and critic.

April 30- “Art in Bloom” Open House at Museum of Fine Arts. (Members' carpool?)

May 7-  Betsy Grecoe will present “Potager Workshop:  Design Your Own Kitchen Garden.”

 

May 19, Saturday-Plant Sale (Saturday, 8 – noon)

June 4- Pot-Luck Supper      (location T. B. A.)
